IOS Overview

IMPORTANT: This setup requires manual configuration for the iOS Agent to communicate with the SysTrack Server and data collection only occurs while the SysTrack app is in the foreground.

The SysTrack iOS Agent includes endpoint data collection for iPhones and iPads. The iOS Agent supports integration with the SysTrack tool suite.

For automatic deployment, a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution is recommended. After deployment, the SysTrack app must be launched and a connection to the SysTrack server must be established for the endpoint device to register within the SysTrack tool suite. If a supported MDM is used and the endpoint is registered on the SysTrack server, some limited inventory data can be collected through the MDM API while the SysTrack app is inactive. See Unified Endpoint Management for more information.

NOTE: You will need to run the agent on the phone before the MDM does any collection.

About the Agent

The SysTrack iOS Agent requires a connection to a SysTrack Server:

  • On-Premises configuration: The Agent communicates with a Windows SysTrack Server.

  • Cloud configuration: The Agent communicates with a Cloud Tenant Server.

The iOS Agent only runs on a device when the SysTrack app is in the foreground.

  • SysTrack Tools making device connections will only be available if the SysTrack app is in the foreground.

Collected data is stored on the device in a SQLite database.
